Syntax of the Split Method
Here’s the syntax of the split() method:
string.split(separator, limit);Separator: This parameter specifies the character or regular expression used to split the string. If the separator is not provided, the entire string becomes a single array element. An empty string (“”) as the separator will split the string into individual characters.
Limit (Optional): The limit parameter defines the maximum number of splits to be found in the string. If the string exceeds the limit, it won’t be included in the resulting array.
Now let’s look at some examples to understand how the split() method works:
1. Splitting with a Single Character Separator
You can split a string based on any character or sequence of characters. For instance:
const text = "apple,banana,orange,grape";
const fruits = text.split(',');
console.log(fruits); // Output: ["apple", "banana", "orange", "grape"]2. Splitting a String into Individual Characters
If you want to split into an individual character then you can pass an empty string as the separator.
const sentence = "Javascript";

4. Splitting with a Regular Expression Separator
If you want to split the string with a regular expression then pass the expression in the method.

console.log(words); // Output: ["apple", "banana,orange", "grape"]5. Splitting on Newlines
const multilineText = "Line 1\nLine 2\nLine 3";
const lines = multilineText.split('\n');

console.log(array);
// Output: ["Apples", "Oranges", "Bananas", "Grapes"]In this last example, the regular expression /:/ or /,|;|-/ is used to split the string at each colon. This results in an array containing separate parts of the input data.
